Why do people always seem to want to “push the envelope”? For one thing, why don’t they just pick up the envelope, and put it somewhere else, instead of pushing it along?

I get a visual image of Hercules trying to push some flimsy little envelope up a hill – don’t know why (but that could be said of MUCH of what runs through MY head…).

I’ve pushed the odd envelope in my time. Once, I had to get one out of my way so that I could put my coffee where it had been, on my desk.

You know, I just may push another envelope sometime today!
