If I’m not mistaken, the very first live concert I ever attended was April Wine – specifically their “Oowatanite” tour – that song and album playing prominently for several decades on rock radio afterwards. I’ve never forgotten that show, and I ended up seeing the band live a few more times over the years. As a matter of fact, like many prominent Canadian acts of the time, they still tour!

I read online earlier this week that a founding member, Jim Clench (the writer of that enduring hit mentioned earlier) passed away. Somewhere upstairs, there’s a pretty good band starting to put songs together…
