I think I'm living with Dr. Doolittle!
Mrs. That Dan Guy has a particular soft spot for animals, and whenever I'm with her, the entire forest seems to pop out to say hello!
The other day, we were driving along, and turned into a subdivision with tall grass on the boulevard. What do we spot? A friggin' falcon, or hawk - who knows these things unless you're an ornithologist, or whatever bird professionals are called?? We got to snap a few pictures (pretty crappy from the i-Phone 3GS, just sayin'...) before the lineup of traffic behind us got rather surly.
Last night, driving her home from her brutal shift ending at 1:45 AM (don't ask), we spotted first a deer frozen beside the road (pretending to be frozen. He/she was definitely very alive and well), then a fox looking very disoriented on the road before scampering off into the shadows.
When we got onto our own road, she noticed a rabbit. But it turned out to be, as she proclaimed, a herd. We counted at least 10, but there could have been more. We either disturbed a gang turf war, or a local union rally. Neither of us have ever seen so many rabbits congregating in one place at the same time before.
Dr. Doolittle....
Chow for now!!
So very, very cool! It has become almost a daily occurence! And how about the 2 very, very slow muskrats crossing the road in the dead of the night right before our street! Unbelievable. But this falcon, UNREAL! Beautiful, beautiful bird and I cant believe he didnt take off when we put our window down to take the picture! he was ony a few feet away! WOWEE!
ReplyDeleteHey, looking at pics on the Web, I think this is a Red Tailed Hawk and is a young one!
ReplyDeleteWe won't talk about the napping pigeon...
ReplyDeleteIf he had a redhead, he'd be a woodpecker!
ReplyDeleteYes, I have more on the "napping pigeon" front actually........highly disturbing, but wont share it here......sigh....
ReplyDeleteHey, remember we used to have a resident neighborhood woodpecker? Where was that? So many animals!
Caw! Caw!
ReplyDeleteRiffington, our resident power pole woodpecker!!
